Are you merely a bystander in your career development?

Your first inclination might be to adamantly deny that you’ve played a passive role in the shaping of your career. And that assertion may very well be true. If some people, however, really thought about it, they might see that they’ve actually served as backseat drivers in their occupational evolution. By simply letting your career happen, you open yourself up to the possibility of:

  • Becoming complacent, disengaged and/or apathetic in the workplace.
  • Remaining professionally stagnant and allowing career progression opportunities to pass you by.
  • Permitting someone else (i.e. management) to dictate and write your career story for you.
